Brown to Be Sworn In For Second Term on Wednesday

Everyone invited to attend Lansing reception marking start of 95th Legislature

LANSING – State Representative Terry Brown (D-Pigeon) invites residents to visit Lansing on Wednesday as the 95th Legislature is sworn in, and to stop by to visit him and his two staff members as he starts his second term.

"Taking the oath of office at the Capitol is an incredibly humbling and inspiring experience for me," Brown said. "I want to share this day with as many of my fellow residents as possible, because I am so appreciative of all the kindness and support they have shown me. I am eager to get the new Legislature off to a positive start and help everyone focus on doing a better job of truly serving the people we represent."

All 110 State Representatives will be sworn in Wednesday, which is the opening day of the new two-year legislative session. Because of space restrictions, residents will not be able to attend the   swearing-in ceremony that takes place on the House Floor around noon.

However, residents are welcome to come and watch the noon ceremony on TV screens either in the halls of the Capitol or in Brown's office, which is on the 11th Floor of the House Office Building across the street, 124 N. Capitol. A reception in Brown's office will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information, please call Brown's office, toll-free, at (888) 254-5284.

"I never forget that I am at the Capitol for one purpose: to do what's best for the people of Huron and Tuscola counties," Brown said. "I will keep working hard every day to create good-paying jobs, attract more economic development from the renewable-energy industry, and protect our Great Lakes and other natural resources. My door is always open, and I welcome hearing your ideas, suggestions, and concerns as we work together to make our communities better for everyone."
