LANSING – State Representative Terry Brown (D-Pigeon) had the honor of delivering the invocation in the House of Representatives Chamber on Tuesday before the Governor's annual State of the State Address.
"I was very humbled to stand before my colleagues on this important night and ask God to give us, as leaders and as His servants, the strength and courage to do what's right for the state we all love so much," said Brown, who is an ordained minister as well as a longtime educator. "In the Thumb and across Michigan, this economic downturn is causing more suffering than we have seen in many years. I asked my fellow legislators to join me in praying that we seek not credit, but bipartisan solutions, as we work to create a better, stronger, smarter Michigan."
The governor gave her speech in the House Chamber to a joint session of the House and Senate.
